As a registered architect specializing in the technical aspects of a project, Scott’s driving concern for accurate detailing and economically feasible solutions make him an integral component of the H&A team. Working under the guidance of the Senior Project Manager, he manages multiple projects simultaneously and coordinates the efforts of staff and of all retained consultants to ensure on-time and on-budget development of his projects. His experience in a wide variety of project types promotes and expedites cross-platform problem solving and decision making, and is an asset to his clients. In his off time, Scott enjoys spending time with his wife as well as woodworking, fly-fishing, and restoring classic British sports cars.
As a Project Manager, Jim has primary leadership responsibility in managing both the client relationship and project success. Jim encourages and promotes team professionalism and collaboration of new and younger team members. His positive client management, team management and excellent communication skills serve to enhance his Project Management abilities. Jim’s prior experience leading the architectural team at Solid Light and the New England Aquarium where he was responsible for all phases of a project and of team management gave Jim the experience to walk into his role at H&A with little effort and he has quickly become a valued member of our team. Jim is a devoted son, husband and father of two.
David is a well-rounded technical architect whose specialty is managing difficult renovation projects. David is highly adept at problem-solving, value engineering, and product review and analysis which ensures he is a key advisor on H&A’s more challenging renovation projects. In his free time David volunteers as a coach for both his son and daughters sports teams and he is on the Board of Trustees at his church.
Senior Project Manager / Registered Architect Chuck Flagg has over 40 years’ experience in Project Management. Chuck’s management background in a diverse group of project types – education, commercial, retail, government, private, in both large and small – has honed his highly effective management techniques.He provides primary leadership in managing both the client relationship and project success, as measured in client satisfaction, work quality, and profitability. Chuck loves the adventure of sailing and whenever he can he also spends quality time with his new grand children, twin girls.
Gema supports the architectural team in the efficient and well-organized generation, maintenance and/or fulfillment of the non-technical administrative aspects of projects. Gema’s strong work ethic and goal oriented abilities ensure accurate behind-the-scene organization of project data. Gema’s family and friends are key components to her off-work activities and she is an avid volunteer within the schools.
As an architectural intern expanding his teaching and youth ministry career to include architecture, Michael is learning the basics of an architectural firm including administration, marketing, and design, as well as the financial, business development and leadership aspects of a firm. While learning he is providing support to any area of the firm that needs assistance. When Michael is not in the office he can be found ministering to parish youth, caring for sheep, playing soccer or woodworking.
As H&A founder and President, Steve sets long-range direction, goals, and oversees the overall operation of the firm. He serves as project manager on several projects and is the lead designer for the firm. Steve has received numerous endorsements for his outstanding designs, and the professionalism and ease of working with his team. Steve frequently serves as a thesis advisor and a member of the Honors and Awards committee at the Boston Architectural College. He is also a Rotarian, a “Life Guard” with the Life Teen Program at his church, a Sunday School teacher, and sits on the Church Parish Council and Board of Directors at Archbishop Williams High School.
With a strong technical background in Revit and AutoCad, and with advancing project management abilities, John provides oversight of, and participates in, the generation of architectural detailing and project deliverables for projects ranging from $100K to $30M in the educational, state/municipal and retail arenas. John coaches junior team members and guides them as needed in the generation of quality projects and in the development of their career.
As a custom woodworking craftsman, John is sought for home renovation projects and spends much of his free-time enjoying friends and family while working on their home projects, as well as on his own. He also enjoys hitting the links and spending quality time with his wife.
ELIZABETH P. LEWIS, P.E., SECB, LEED GREEN ASSOCIATE
As a Project Manager with 30 years’ experience, Elizabeth is directly responsible for allocating resources to insure that the work process of her projects flows smoothly. She has primary responsibility for generating successful projects, as measured in client satisfaction and work quality. Elizabeth is a registered Structural Engineer with a Master of Science in Civil Engineering and holds a host of registrations and certifications in addition to belonging to several professional societies. Elizabeth volunteers in her hometown on the Permanent Building Committee and is Chair of the School Building Committee. Elizabeth has four children 3 of which attend college and one in high school.
Noelle supports the entire team as needed in the administrative and technical aspects of the office such as editing specifications and word documents, maintaining databases, or scanning and filing drawings. Noelle is an honor student, artist and an accomplished equestrian who will be heading off to college in the fall of 2017, yet continuing to work in the office during breaks.
With a 25 year background combining business, strategic planning, marketing, design, and educational planning, Tamara brings a wide variety of professional skills and experience to the firm. Tamara plays an integral role in developing and carrying out the long range strategic plan of the firm while directing the activities of the marketing department. Outside the office Tamara is a Board Member of the Association of Catholic Advancement and Admissions Professionals, and enjoys biking and volunteer activities.
KEVIN MURPHY, Associate AIA
UAV PILOT/ ARCHITECTURAL DESIGNER
As a FAA licensed UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) pilot, and an expert Revit operator, Kevin has many roles that support our clients’ project. As pilot, he conducts forensic evaluations of building envelope systems, including infrared analysis. When not piloting Kevin works in conjunction with the firm’s project managers and job captains to produce the Revit and AutoCAD documents needed for any phase of an architectural project. Outside of the office Kevin enjoys running, coaching his daughter’s basketball team and spending time with his family.
Karen functions as executive assistant to the President and facilitates organizational operations of a non-technical nature for the office. She maintains resource allocation for all projects in a smooth and efficient manner ensuring time well spent. Her organizational and communication skills are a great asset to the President in managing schedules and records. Family, fun, and fitness consume Karen’s free time. She is an avid runner, a frequent marathoner and enjoys traveling.
As Job Captain, James is the key connection between Project Managers and Drafters on large-scale jobs, and adeptly manages his own small-scale projects. Having worked in AutoCAD and/or Revit for 17+ years, James brings a solid background to any design project and consistently produces accurately detailed documents prior to deadline. James is also a competent Construction Administrator. In his free time James is devoted to his two small children, and enjoys fishing and the outdoors.
Jack’s 35 years of experience in education as a school Principal and teacher, and his successful working relationships with the wide variety of groups within a school community – administrators, faculty, staff, parents, students, and alumni – are invaluable resources. His communication and organizational abilities ensure a thorough and efficient process for clients engaging in a multi-faceted review of their facility. Jack is passionate about advancing STEM education and is an avid world traveler, photographer and gardener.
Kate provides excellent customer service to clients and guests. She facilitates the smooth operations of the non-technical aspects of the business consisting of reception, office administration and clerical support. She assists the President, marketing department, and all staff members in the efficient and well-organized administration of the business. Kate’s extensive depth of experience and highly professional work history allow her to step-in where ever needed.
GABRIELA WALKATE, Associate AIA
Working in conjunction with the firm’s principal designers, Gabriela brings hand sketches and general concepts from ‘napkin to digital world’ through the production of the computer renderings and 3D rotational models that bring a project to life. When not designing, Gaby supports the Project Managers by providing architectural drawings and producing the REVIT and AutoCAD documents needed for any phase of an architectural project. In her former position as Owner and Manager of a diversified architectural office in Peru, Gaby directed projects through all phases from design through construction. Gaby’s passion for design was enriched as team first-place winner of several prestigious competitions in Peru. Gaby is working towards her registration in the US and when not studying she enjoys spending time with her husband and young daughter.
