In complementing its well-balanced, 6-year college preparatory academic program, Archbishop Williams High School has engaged in an ongoing relationship with Habeeb & Associates Architects for the continuous revitalization of the school facilities and campus in pursuit of its commitment that: “With each new academic year, AWHS continues to give the young men and women who walk through its doors the prospect and ability to pursue not only higher educational opportunities but also their dreams.”
The most recent of a series of phased enhancements conducted by H&A began with a complete interior renovation to the 3rd floor of Nazareth Hall, home of Fine and Digital Arts, the Theater, Band, and Music studios, as well as the 7th and 8th grade learning environments. The renovations created learning and discovery spaces outfitted with the latest in technology and educational advances.
Phase 2 renovations to the Student Center, including general table, booth, or high-top table options, along with serving line or grab-and-go food service selections, mirror the experience gained in a University setting. Whether collaborating on a project, enjoying lunch with friends, or slipping away for a bit of solo study, the revitalized Student Center has the ability to adapt to any of the student’s needs.
In the continuation of Phase 2, the major alteration to the Volpe Gymnasium elevated the school’s athletic program status with a completely new interior including flooring, bleachers, equipment, lighting, finishes, and ADA compliance throughout.
AWHS Theater Ensemble provides students a theater experience in both dramatic and musical productions. H&A's Phase 3 design and renovations to the main auditorium created a breathtaking space in the design and replacement of flooring, seating, lighting, and an audio system. A stage extension provided the capability for more elaborate sets and a larger number of performers on stage.
Wrapping up Phase 3, the main building received an outdoor lift, as well as two interior incline lifts to provide access to the gymnasium, auditorium and main academic floor. Additional exterior facility improvements included replacement of the roof on the main building, and secure and accessible exterior door replacements to ensure the longevity and useful life of the building.
Future phased projects on the horizon include a general building facelift with masonry repairs and fenestration replacement for sound weatherization, and improvement of internal daylighting conditions.
