In order to better understand the maintenance and capital needs of the City of Lynn’s 25 public schools, the City retained H&A to perform a Facilities Conditions Assessment. The study identified the long-term capital and maintenance needs by priority levels, as well as the associated costs for any repairs. The study facilitated easier decision-making and ultimately protect the City’s facilities investments.
Following the successful completion of the study, the City engaged H&A to create an Educational Facility Master Plan of its 18 elementary schools. The plan provided multiple options to update the schools to meet the needs of the student population within a ten-year period. The 5 options explored retaining the current buildings, preserving existing schools through renovations and additions, consolidating and closing schools, and constructing new facilities.
