In 2019, Habeeb & Associates Architects was hired by the MSBA for a project associated with the Accelerated Repair Program. The projects consisted of schematic design through post construction for roof and boiler replacements, accessible toilet rooms and ramps, and other replacements at five schools, with an expanded scope at two.
All roof and boiler replacements met the requirements of the MA State Building Code 780 CMR, Ninth Edition and the 2018 International Energy Conservation Code and the boilers exceeded the MA Stretch Energy Code (79% efficiency) at 82% efficiency.
H&A received approval from the Historic Commission in order to salvage the original railings at Burncoat Street.
As this project occurred throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, the client decided to expand the scope of the work to include issues related to the pandemic. All work was completed below budget and on time.
Following the successful completion of this project, H&A was awarded two consecutive On-Call contracts with the City of Worcester in 2021 and 2024. We have completed 12 projects to date at various schools, including further ADA renovations, building envelope repairs, window and floor replacements, and a gym bleacher replacement.
