‘House Doctor’ arrangements occur when a school district or facility manager hire an architect for a defined period of time (3-5 years) to assist with various projects that are in the pipeline or that may arise suddenly.  The benefits to a house doctor contract are a significant savings in time and resources through the elimination of the designer selection process for every project.  In an emergency situation, an architect is already under contract and can begin work immediately.  Importantly, House Doctor contracts allow for the prioritized, well-phased project planning that result in the most effective use of the district’s and/or taxpayer’s dollars.
