A few of our many client recommendations…
Scituate Public Schools secured your services to complete a comprehensive Elementary Schools Master Plan and we were thoroughly pleased with the result. Your plan, and the range of options you presented to us, helped inform our district’s decision to consolidate Cushing and Hatherly Elementary Schools and propose building a new elementary school to replace them.
Using the enrollment projections, educational program adequacy and needs assessment, and facilities conditions assessment from your report, we submitted two SOIs to the MSBA. At this point, the MSBA has scheduled us for a Senior Study, and we are very hopeful that the preemptive work we did with you will persuade the MSBA of our Town’s need.
Your firm was highly responsive to our needs and timeline. When we asked you to present your findings separately to the school committee, building committee, Board of Selectmen, and at a public forum, you were prepared at all times. Each presentation was clear and crisp, visually appealing, and well received by each audience. Consolidating a school is rarely a popular topic, but by professionally presenting the facts, it met little resistance from the community.
From Scituate’s perspective, your years of experience in school studies shined through. You were exceptionally communicative and showed that you have the full range of capabilities necessary to navigate the needs of any school system. We hope we will have the opportunity to work with H&A again.
Paul G. Donlan, Director of Business and Finance, Scituate Public Schools
From the study phase through to construction completion, Habeeb & Associates Architects has consistently helped the Town make appropriate, cost-effective decisions about the repairs to Veteran’s Memorial Stadium. The structural concrete frame repairs, roof replacement, and installation of new handicapped ramp, guardrails and emergency lighting was expertly
administered, addressing the life safety and accessibility issues present in the 1950’s structure.
In addition, H&A designed and administered construction of a new 2,500 sq. ft. vehicle storage building adjacent to Veteran’s Memorial Stadium. It will house the equipment for the Town’s Park Department and includes a toilet room, breakroom, and an office.
Over both projects, Habeeb & Associates Architects was on time, on-budget and very communicative. They were especially helpful in managing a challenging contractor. It was a pleasure to work with them and I highly recommend their services.
Mark Shom, Rockland Public Schools
Habeeb & Associates Architects, led by Project Manager, Elizabeth Lewis, performed a study, prepared construction documents, and conducted construction administration for a roof and rooftop unit replacement for the Hingham Public Library at a total project construction cost of $1.1 million (10,500 square foot EPDM roof and rooftop HVAC units were replaced). The work also included isolated slate roof repairs on other sections of the 1965 building, a large skylight replacement, and the addition of interior ceiling fans and controls.
H&A met the project’s aggressive schedule. Specifically, the project was fast-tracked so we could receive contractor bids prior to Town Meeting in order to obtain voter approval to fund the project. H&A provided a detailed study which clearly outlined the deficiencies of the roof system, and a report comparing three different HVAC system options. The study provided pros and cons with each option, which helped the team select the preferred alternative. We opted to replace our units with a more energy-efficient system. The system was similar in nature, which resulted in minimal impacts on the library’s daily operations.
It was a pleasure to work with Habeeb & Associates Architects. The Town of Hingham benefitted from their professionalism and expertise, and I would recommend them to any municipality. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
Roger Fernandes, Town Engineer, Town of Hingham
Habeeb & Associates, Architects, of Norwell, has been the architect for all three phases of the renovation of the Halifax Elementary School including replacing the roof (summer of 2017), replacing the siding, doors, and windows (summer of 2018), and the replacement and expansion of the fire suppression system (expected summer of 2019).
It has been a pleasure to work with Steve Habeeb, Scott Bancroft, and other members of the firm throughout each phase (planning and drawing, bid process, construction) of each project. They are highly skilled, detailed-oriented, and interested in finding solutions to whatever issues arise. They understand that it will the Town’s officials and residents who will live with the results of these projects even after the personnel have moved to projects in other communities and that a “don’t worry about it” attitude towards a minor deficiency will result in a problem sometime in the future.
They have striven, successfully, to bring these projects within budget and, in most cases, substantially under budget. They have been timely in their communications with the Town’s officials and other interested parties, including the contractors. They have worked well with everyone involved including, when we had public forums on the projects, residents who had basic or complicated questions about what would be occurring.
I heartily recommend, without reservation, Habeeb & Associates, to work on municipal and school projects.
Charlie Seelig, Town Administrator, Town of Halifax
Habeeb & Associates Architects did a capital asset assessment for two church buildings located on our 10 acre campus. They conducted an onsite field visit and did additional visual assessments over a 12 month period to assess seasonal conditions. Throughout the assessment they were responsive to our needs and communicated with us promptly and clearly.
They submitted a very comprehensive report which included recommendations that were aligned with the church’s facility goals and steps church leadership could take to protect the two buildings from premature deterioration and ensure historical preservation. The assessment was well organized and easy to understand.
The findings of the report as well as the various building systems were reviewed and discussed with the church trustees. The report has been a critical maintenance tool in identifying issues before they become a problem and has allowed leadership to take a proactive versus a reactive stance. The report has also been helpful to the leadership in developing budgets and planning future initiatives to fund restorations effort over a ten year period.
We were very happy with the thoroughness of the report and the professionalism of the staff. We highly recommend their services and would welcome the opportunity to speak to any organization who is considering using their services.
Reverend Eric Stroshine, First Congregational Church of Hanover, United Church of Christ
We are very pleased to have worked with Habeeb and Associates on our 13,000 square foot addition to East Catholic High School. Steve Habeeb and his staff were wonderful to work with from the Master Planning stage through the finished product. We couldn’t be happier with our new Math, Science & Technology Wing and overall renovations to our campus.
Steve and his staff were able to blend the exterior of the school to offer updates but to keep the overall external appearance the same. Internally our school looks brand new. We are so pleased with our new facility.
I highly recommend Steve Habeeb and Associates from designing your Master Plan through completion of the final project. They were always available for any unforeseen circumstances. The staff is highly professional and wonderful to work with.
Sarah J. Adanti, Director of Advancement, East Catholic High School, Connecticut
I have had the pleasure of working with Habeeb & Associates in three different school districts for over a dozen years. This has included projects both large and small, and very comprehensive surveys/ engineering studies of school department facilities.
They are headed up by their Principal, Mr. Steven Habeeb who sets the tone for professionalism, knowledge, experience, integrity, and a very thorough understanding of school systems and how we operate. Steve is not satisfied until the customer is satisfied, and he assures that in every job. I find the entire staff to be reflective of Mr. Habeeb’s philosophy.
One of the things I find most impressive is that Steve takes an active role in each and every project. Whether it be big or small, you will always know that Steve will have an active part and you will actually see and speak with him regularly. I highly recommend Habeeb & Associates to any organization needing architectural and engineering related services. Feel free to contact me.
Patrick W. Meagher, Assistant Superintendent for Business & Finance, Carver Public Schools
I wanted to let you know how much the Dickinson Catholic Schools Board of Directors, administration, faculty and staff appreciate all that you and your staff have done for us. Our experience in working with you has been extremely positive. Starting with the Master Planning Process, and moving into the Schematic Design, Design Development and Construction Phases you and your staff have provided us the leadership, direction and professionalism that we were looking for as we began rebuilding Trinity Junior High and High School after the fire on March 3, 2014.
Thank you again, Steve, for all that you have done and will continue to do for us. Please pass on my gratitude to your fine staff.
Steve Glasser, President, Dickinson Catholic Schools, North Dakota
I am writing this letter to express my sincere satisfaction with Habeeb & Associates Architects and the building envelope work that they have done at the Franklin County Vocational Technical High School this past summer.
When MSBA assigned H&A to be our designer for our window and door replacement project we heard that they had a good reputation among school superintendents and administrators. I can say now, with confidence, that their reputation is well-deserved. From pre-design to construction period services, H&A was there at every turn to help guide the project to a successful outcome. Their experienced team, led by James Pongsa, exceeded our expectations and helped to bring the project in on time and $21,000 under budget.
Our new windows and doors look fantastic, and the improvements in energy efficiency are noticeable. The window and door replacement project at Franklin County Vocational Technical High School was a huge success, and I credit that to the team at H&A.
Despite being headquartered two hours away, H&A was always on time and well prepared for our biweekly meetings and were extremely responsive to all of our questions and concerns throughout the project. I recommend them highly and without reservation.
Richard J. Martin, Superintendent, Franklin County Technical School, Turners Falls
As our project enters the end phase with substantial completion reached last week I would be remiss to not communicate to you our pleasure with you, James Pongsa, and your firm in assisting our district with this project. We have participated in five construction projects in the last fifteen years and without a doubt this has been the best of them. You did a fantastic job in testing and research during design phase prior to the final construction documents, and the result was a design that only had one minor change order, and that one saved us money. …you did your research and our bids came in 25% less than estimated. … as the project proceeded through construction phase you were there for every question and responded to every issue when they arose. … You have been supportive throughout the entire project, even taking on tasks that probably weren’t your responsibility. … we are in the position of going back to the taxpayers informing them that this project will cost them less than proposed. We have Habeeb & Associates to thank for this.
Jay Byer, Business Manager, Mendon-Upton Regional School District
Initially Habeeb & Associates was contracted to assist NDA with a feasibility study and to conduct a facility assessment. Secondly, Habeeb & Associates was contracted to design a three story addition and renovation of the current school building. The addition includes 5 science laboratories, prep rooms, a greenhouse, general classrooms, campus ministry center, a health center, administrative offices, meeting rooms and storage. As a college preparatory school it was important for us to work with a company who understood current educational needs, who was sensitive to the Catholic school mission and culture and who could appreciate the limited financial resources of a not-for-profit institution. We were also interested in working with a company who was creative, environmentally aware, at ease working with a building committee, and whose staff had a sense of humor. … Our experience with Habeeb & Associates has been very positive. The initial assessment was honest and complete. The design for the addition is well done and works well with the existing building. Deadlines are always met … I am confident that Mr. Habeeb has NDA’s best interests as his main concern. I would be happy to welcome you to NDA to see H&A’s work. Please do not hesitate to call.
Sister Barbara A. Barry, Sndden, President, Notre Dame Academy, Hingham
In the past two years, Tedeschi Food Shops, Inc. has requested architectural services from Habeeb & Associates on more than 30 projects for our Tedeschi, L’il Peach and Store 24 locations…Throughout each of these projects, you have always provided us with exceptional service. Deadlines were met, changes were few, and communications were always open and honest. I can trust your work to be accurate, complete and professional. It continues to be a pleasure to work with you and the H&A staff. I thank you for your excellent work and highly recommend your firm to other potential clients.
David A. Coonan, Director of Design and Construction, Tedeschi Food Shops
Now that the rectory project is complete I wanted to take a moment to thank you for the wonderful design work you provided, not only on this project, but on the construction of the kitchen and lower church. … Your design of the lower church area including the kitchen and the small banquet room was exactly what we needed … The Hanover Life Teen program has become a fantastic success and the space you designed is serving it exceptionally well. Your guidance and assistance with both these projects was vital to their success. I want you to know that your expertise and patience was essential in helping me through what would surely have been a headache for the pastor lacking this key knowledge. … I believe our parish or school will be fortunate to have you serving as their architect or planner for their projects.
Father Christopher Hickey, Pastor, St. Mary’s Parish, Hanover
Habeeb & Associates Architects has attended many City lead meetings and always kept the best interests of the City and the project when making recommendations. They have always listened to our needs and wants, and transferred them to the best of their ability into the design. However, they were never afraid to communicate that our specific want at that time may not be in the best interest of the project and were able to steer us to a better solution that meet our needs both aesthetically, structurally and financially.
Elizabeth Lewis our assigned project lead has been wonderful to work with; she is not only knowledgeable but has the ability to accomplish what needs to be done. She has kept our project on task and schedule.
Their knowledge of municipal government and the many bid laws was welcome. Habeeb & Associates Architects have always been available for my office to obtain guidance with our current projects or future project needs.
With no reservations, and with the utmost respect for this company, I highly recommend Habeeb & Associates Architects.
Tammy Teft, MCPPO, PMP, Director of Purchasing, City of Westfield
This letter is a recommendation for Habeeb and Associates for Designer and Architectural Services. Old Colony was involved in a MSBA project for roof replacement and science lab renovation. Habeeb and Associates was chosen for their extensive experience and knowledge in working with school districts and their ability to bring in a project on time and on budget. Their knowledge and experience in design allowed the projects to come in on budget without extensive and costly change orders. Their ability to work with contractors, sub-contractors, project management and Old Colony representatives led to the overall success of the project. Old Colony would highly recommend Steve Habeeb and his team for any project for Designer and Architectural Services.
Gary Brown, Superintendent-Director, Old Colony Regional Technical Vocational High School
I have recently worked with Habeeb Associates on a roof repair project at Hingham’s Plymouth River Elementary School. This repair was needed due to significant structural damages caused last winter. I am happy to say that the roof was repaired prior to the start of our school year.
Habeeb Associates was engineer and the designer for the repair, and also provided bid and construction period services. Hingham found them very responsive to our needs and timeline. In fact, because this project involved insurance settlements, the insurance approval process significantly slowed the project as we waited for approvals to make the award. However, during that time H&A kept the winning bidder on standby (during this very busy summer for all contractors) until Hingham could formally make the award and kept the substantial completion date essentially the same– before school started.
From Hingham’s experience, the firm is professional, responsive, and has a full range of capabilities to design, bid, project manage and close out jobs. We would certainly use Habeeb and Associates again.
If you should want additional information or further discuss Hingham’s experience with Habeeb and Associates, feel free to call.
John W. Ferris, Director of Business and Support Services, Hingham Public Schools
Nauset Public School District had the good fortune to contract with Steve Habeeb & Associates, Architects, this past year for a $6,500,000 roof, window, and door replacement project at Nauset High School. We selected Habeeb & Associates from the Massachusetts School Building Authority list, as specified by stringent rules under the MSBA project guidelines. Habeeb & Associates prepared and submitted preliminary schematics and cost estimates for the project and prepared bid specifications that enabled the district to receive multiple bids on the project. Because of the detailed construction documents, our District was able to bring the project in $1 .5 million under budget. The number of change orders was minimal and we attribute this to Mr. Habeeb’s careful and thoughtful design as well as his complete analysis of the project.
Steve Habeeb was a pleasure to work with, very responsive and attentive to questions and concerns throughout the project. He was always accessible to attend meetings and was professional in all dealings with the building committee and town officials. The experience and expertise of Habeeb & Associates was invaluable. It is without hesitation, and with great confidence that I recommend Habeeb & Associates for any project.
Richard J. Hoffman, Ed.D. Superintendent of Schools, Nauset Public Schools
I have had the pleasure of working with Steve Habeeb of Habeeb & Associates of Norwell, MA during three separate additions and renovations currently being completed. Habeeb & Associates have performed outstandingly in projecting costs well within the appropriation, in providing extensive supervision resulting in timely completion of all phases and in providing a rapid remedy to minor concerns. Having dealt with many architectural firms in my 35 years in Hanover, I can attest that Habeeb & Associates ranks as number one.
Kenneth R. Johnson, Superintendent, Hanover Public Schools
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you and your staff for your help with our recent building renovation project. As you know, we had a very aggressive schedule due to leasing issues with our previous property. …. Based on our brief meeting, your staff was able to develop preliminary floor plans, which with very little modification, were completely suitable for our needs. … In addition, your advice and guidance ultimately may have saved us tens of thousands of dollars as compared with original options we were considering. Please do not hesitate to use us a reference on future projects!
Michael Hillcoat, PE, Project Manager, Restoration Preservation Masonry, Inc.
I wanted to take a moment to thank you and your team for a job well done on the Facilities Needs Assessment project for the Manchester Essex Regional School District (MERSD) elementary schools.
Looking back on the project one year later, we are very satisfied with our decision to work with you and your firm. H&A’s team came to our schools and worked with efficiency, professionalism and skill to quickly put together a comprehensive Physical Conditions Assessment that detailed the state of our aging buildings. Your assessment provided us with a useful management tool that enables our team to identify with great specificity, any building components that may require updating. From your report, we can discern both priority and size of future potential investment needs across a range of key categories (site, envelope, interior, and mechanical and electrical systems), down to a very detailed level.
H&A’s contribution did not end there, as we relied on your firm to help us evaluate the scope and potential cost associated with a range of remediation options: renovation, restructuring or consolidation of buildings. Your report enabled us to forecast many years into the future, and provided useful information that we shared with our community to educate them about potential future configurations and costs. In this process, your team demonstrated great technical knowledge of, and experience in the school design, construction and MSBA processes.
But above all, your best contribution to the project has been superior service. Your team has consistently been responsive, flexible, and friendly and you made yourself available throughout the project, often repeating your desire to make sure that “we would be happy with the result.” You always worked to ensure that we were completely satisfied – revising formatting of reports, providing more detail to your analysis when requested, and driving up to the North Shore on multiple occasions to meet with administration, the School Committee and our community. Our process will continue, and we will keep you informed of where the project goes. But for now I wanted to thank you for all you and your associates have done for the MERSD community.
Avi Urbas, Director of Finance and Operations, Manchester Essex Regional School District
Words cannot express my gratitude for all your work on the architectural plans. You and your associate were patient with my learnings, my drawings and the many changes…Thanks to you we were able to move things forward quickly and we can complete the work before school begins in September… Gratefully,
Sr. Marie Prefontaine, Snd
I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of the Braintree Public Schools to say that it has been an extremely positive experience to work with you and the employees of Habeeb & Associates Architecture, Inc. on the design and implementation of school construction projects since January 2007. A construction budget of $2,000,000 including designer fees was established for projects which so far have included two major areas of roof replacement at the Braintree High School and two completed window replacements at each of two elementary schools for a total of four window replacements. These projects have been completed in a timely and professional manner. …. Your organization has been professional and efficient in its approach to the design, development, construction, and monitoring of our building and renovation projects, and I would highly recommend Habeeb & Associates to anyone planning design and construction projects. It is our pleasure to work with you and the members of Habeeb & Associates.
Peter B. Kress, Business Manager, Braintree Public Schools
On behalf of the Board of Directors, Staff and Family Partners of South Shore Habitat for Humanity, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your generous inkind donation of Professional Services to develop construction plans for the 2- home Center Street Hanover project.
We also thank you once again for your continued support of our mission and your past generous donations of your time and your expertise on our behalf.
Richard T. McGowan, Director Of Operations, South Shore Habitat for Humanity
I wanted to express my thanks for the wonderful work that was done at our school by your design firm on our roofing project. The project will come in under our expectations for cost and we will have a quality product over our head for many years to come. Congratulations on a job well managed and thank you again.
John Mc Fadden, Blue Hills Regional Technical School
…the level of detail you provided in the [conditions assessment] report with respect to clearly identifying needed repairs, prioritizing repairs and providing cost estimates was crucial information to our School leaders and our Selectman.
Colleen Donnelly, Projects Administrator, Nantucket Public Schools
The Marshfield Public Schools has been working with Habeeb & Associates, Inc. for the past two years on diverse projects including a Capital Assessment Plan, Facility Audit, handicap access ramp at our high school, and an exterior door replacement project at an elementary school.
Our experience has shown that this company is well versed in municipal law, and in all aspects – engineering, architectural design, and project management – we have had excellent service and quick response to our needs along with the flexibility required to complete work while schools are in session.
Therefore, without reservation, I highly recommend Habeeb & Associates. Feel free to call me should you have any questions.
Thomas J. Kelley, Superintendent, Marshfield Public Schools
I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you and your staff for the excellent job you did. The overall success of this project is attributable to the exceptional team that was assembled and you and your office were integral components of this team! … You presented realistic assessments of our project vis-a-vis our budget and provided us with options to spend our available resources wisely. … Your budget estimate proved to be very accurate as not only was this project completed within the constrained time frame, but we did so within our budget allocation. Steve, your design is impressive, your personal attention to this project was instrumental in our accomplishment and you and your office were not only effective, but a pleasure to interact with on a regular basis.
Charles L. Kellner, Assistant to the Superintendent, Dedham Public Schools
Honestly, I approached this with some skepticism based on my previous experience in school construction projects. The past architects did fine, but there was always some issue with design that fell under the “unforeseen” category that I felt should have been caught during design. In your case I probably asked questions in the beginning thinking there would be something, but there were none. We completed this project with only one change order I can think of, and that one reduced cost. The design anticipated everything, estimated cost conservatively, as the bids came in below estimates, and any real issues we encountered were construction related, and even those were few. I cannot thank you enough for the way you picked up the ball when our OPM did nothing (he has left that firm by the way) and that was huge in helping me navigate through that part. I would recommend you to anyone looking for an architect or construction management services. Maybe it’s because you are a small firm where it seems to me you have that “family business” approach, but I have nothing but good feelings. It was also my (our) pleasure working with you, James, and the rest of your team. If we are ever doing another project you will be getting a call. Thank you.
Jay Byer, Business Manager, Mendon-Upton Regional School District
From study to completion the project went smoothly and according to plan. Your studies were thorough and the reports concise and easy to follow … We particularly enjoyed working with project manager, Chuck Mooney, who was on top of even the slightest of details. His attentiveness kept the project on track, on time and $100,000 under budget with no compromise in quality or workmanship of the final product.
Rocco Richardi, Director of Facilities, Massasoit Community College
As Assistant Superintendent of the Rockland Public Schools, it gives me great pleasure to provide a reference for Habeeb & Associates. Steve Habeeb and his firm did an outstanding job of assisting our school system when we were in a crisis and needed it most … Throughout the hectic pace of the project, created by our need to lose as few school days as possible, the Habeeb team was calm, professional and in clear control of the situation. The repairs were completed in record time, with no compromise in quality and we felt safe and secure when students arrived for the first day of school … I highly recommend Habeeb & Associates for architectural services.
Joseph P. Cucinotta, Assistant to the Superintendent, Rockland Public Schools
…For a particularly competitive price, you and your organization provided the school department and our community with a comprehensive document and management tool that gives us the ability to conceive a process by which we could improve our facilities and properly maintain them into the future. In addition, I complement your firm’s willingness to present and interpret the analysis for a variety of stakeholders and constituencies … Your presentations before our School Committee and Board of Selectman were thorough, logical and fitting for the respective audiences.
Mark R. Mason, Superintendent of Schools, Scituate Public Schools
As delayed as this letter is, I do want to take the time to thank you for the wonderful design work you did on our Plymouth Campus at Cordage Commerce Center. I know that our time constraints put great pressure on your company, but you never made me feel rushed or ignored and played a major role in making it possible to open this fabulous facility on time and within budget. Additionally I want to compliment you and your associates on the beautiful design you created for our facility. Everyone is awed by the openness, sense of space and light you have created, even in rooms without exterior windows. … I commend you and thank you for exemplary work that transformed a cavernous space into a warm and welcoming educational environment.
Martha Sue Harris, President, Quincy College, Quincy
On behalf of NESDEC, those who attended the “Renovating Old Schools” session, and myself, I would like to thank you for your participation in the session. Many individuals remarked, after the session, that the presentation helped them understand the complexities of a renovation project and more importantly some things they need to consider in preparing a successful renovation project. Your insight as an architect and willingness to share some of the issues that have occurred in your work were very appropriate and helped get the message across. It helped reinforce what I preach to planning groups,
” . .. you get what you plan for!” Again, thank you for giving of your time and experience to help continue to make the Annual New England School Facilities Conference the valuable resource that it has become.
Michael C. Kucsma, Commissioner, State of Maine Department of Education
It gives me great pleasure to write this letter of recommendation for Architect Steven C. Habeeb, AIA … Steven and his staff did an outstanding job preparing the preliminary Analysis of Space Needs and Physical Conditions Report for the Rockland Public Schools. … We were all impressed with the quality of the report and his willingness to provide additional assistance well above the call of duty. …. The facilities committee was pleased with the detailed report and suggestions for improvement. In fact, the Rockland School Committee has already approved some of the recommendations. … Therefore I give my highest recommendation to Habeeb & Associates Inc for any architectural project under consideration in your school system or business.
Dr. William G. Compton, Superintendent of Schools, Rockland Public Schools
On behalf of the entire Sacred Heart High School community I would like to personally thank you for your firm’s exceptional work in formulating a Facilities Assessment and Master Plan for our school. We couldn’t be more pleased! Your firm’s final report and the accompanying ‘campus flyover’ video which you presented to our administrative team provided us with multiple possibilities to address the schools challenges and objectives. Thank you for an extraordinary job…working with you and your team of professionals was a pleasure.
John F. Enos, Principal, Sacred Heart High School
It is my pleasure to highly recommend Habeeb & Associates Architects. Steve and his firm worked with the Town of Hanover on our three school building projects from Space Needs Study and Town Meeting floor to design and project management. They guided us through an aggressive schedule and tight budget: on-time and on-schedule.
John D. Guenard, Chairman, Hanover School Committee, Hanover Public Schools
